Webflow vs. Wix: Which Website Builder Is Best for You in 2025?
These powerful website builders have some key differences you should know about.

Having a professional website is table stakes in today’s internet-driven world. Even if your business operates predominantly offline, people increasingly turn to the web to find the services they need.
Unfortunately, building a custom website can be challenging, which is why professional website builders such as Wix and Webflow have become so popular. Both website-building tools provide functionality so anyone can create a professional website.
But which of the tools is best? Choosing the wrong one could result in complications as your business starts to scale.
We tested each of these tools thoroughly, going through all their features to bring you this in-depth guide to which web design tool is best: Webflow or Wix.
The main similarities between Webflow and Wix
Webflow and Wix are robust no-code tools offering drag-and-drop web design functionality. They focus on ease of use and require zero coding knowledge to build a website. Both website-building platforms let you implement all the essential features of a modern website, such as:
SEO tools
SSL certificates
Optional ecommerce plans
Responsive websites
However, the degree to which each tool implements these features is quite different. Each tool also has different advanced features.
The main differences between Webflow and Wix
The most striking difference between Webflow and Wix is that Webflow is designed for more experienced users, while Wix is designed for people without experience creating websites. However, that doesn’t mean Wix is automatically the better option if you’re completely unfamiliar with web design. While Wix was designed for complete amateurs, its automated “do it all for you” can sometimes lead to frustration.
Wix has invested heavily in artificial design intelligence, which might not be the best thing for your website. Yes, Wix’s AI-driven customization options mean you get a website created by simply typing in a few prompts. Unfortunately, when we tested creating a simple website design using Wix’s AI, the automatic result didn’t match our brand, and we had to design the site again.
Another significant difference between Wix and Webflow is their ecommerce features. Webflow’s most expensive plan—$2,544/year, with no monthly option—limits the number of products your online store can have to 15,000. Its cheapest ecommerce plan—$348/year—limits your products to 500. Wix, on the other hand, allows you to have 50,000 products in all its ecommerce plans, which start at $29/month.
Let’s cover each of the Wix versus Webflow comparisons in detail.

Webflow
User-experience
Summary: Webflow has a smooth onboarding experience that empowers the user, while Wix focuses on getting the user to use its AI tools.

Webflow User-experience
Webflow provides an excellent onboarding experience when signing up, smoothly guiding you through creating a website.
After signing up, Webflow shows you a series of screens to help you set up the basics of your new website.

Webflow
Once you answer the basic questions, Webflow begins guiding you through its user-friendly visual editor. Even though the drag-and-drop interface is well laid out and intuitive, the helpful messages appearing while you design your site quickly familiarize you with the editor.

Webflow

Webflow
Wix User-experience
When you sign up for a Wix website, a screen greets you with a button to create your first site.

Wix
After clicking “Create New Site,” Wix encourages you to use its AI website creation features. As you can see from the screenshot below, Wix’s visual design makes the AI creation button far more prominent than the button to create a website manually.

Wix
After clicking the “Start Chat” button, you enter into a conversation with an AI-powered chatbot, which feels smooth and exciting. Unfortunately, the result for our test website was not so exciting. Wix seems to want to abstract as much away from the user as possible, leaving essential decisions such as color, typography, and layout to the AI.
The AI chatbot also miscategorized our test site’s category and added services we didn’t need.
If you skip the AI tools, Wix shows you the following screen instead to create your site.

Wix
The non-AI version allows you to choose a category and style and is better suited for people who want more control over the final website’s result.
Unlike Webflow, Wix provides no guided walkthrough once you’re in the visual editor. Even though Wix is aimed at people with less experience, the lack of a smooth onboarding process creates a steeper learning curve for Wix users.
Features
Summary: Webflow provides extensive features to create a robust, professional-grade website.
Wix offers plenty of readymade solutions for people who prefer a done-for-you approach. Wix also provides a proprietary coding framework called Velo to allow advanced users to extend the Wix site’s functionality with custom code.

Webflow Features
Webflow offers an extensive set of additional features suited for professional development. We were impressed with its ability to let users directly manipulate the HTML, CSS (styling), and JavaScript code inside Webflow, which is impossible on Wix.

Webflow
The ability to directly edit CSS and JavaScript allows website owners to tweak essential aspects of a website, such as improving the user experience through smooth animations.
Staging
Webflow also provides a staging option. Staging is when you host a test version of a site before going live, and is a core step in professional website design.
Webhooks
Webflow lets you create “webhooks,” which allow you to interact with external systems such as Zapier or your CRM. For example, when a user submits a form on Webflow, you can use webhooks to add that user to your CRM or email list automatically.
Collections and CMS
Webflow has a sophisticated content management system (CMS). You create items in that CMS, and then the CMS pushes the changes to any pages using that website content.
For example, you can create a list of Team Members with details for each member. When you update the team member’s details in the CMS, it automatically updates any pages where you’ve used that content item.
Logic flows
Webflow lets you easily create logic flows for actions on your website, as shown in the screenshot below.

Webflow
Wix Features
Wix’s primary feature that Webflow lacks is its powerful ADI (artificial design intelligence) system. It lets you create an entire website from scratch using only text prompts. The final website might not be perfect, but the exercise can save hours for small businesses that want to put up a presence on the web easily.
Wix’s ADI feature is also useful for entrepreneurs who want to test market ideas through advertising campaigns rapidly. You can generate a website in only a few minutes and then run ad campaigns to see which performs best. Once you’ve determined what the market wants, you can spend more time creating a more sophisticated website.

Ready-made components
Another great feature on Wix for those strapped for time is its rich library of ready-made components that you can drag and drop onto the visual editor.

Wix
Proprietary JavaScript support
Wix has its own set of JavaScript libraries called “Velo” that you can use to interact with a Wix website. Velo lets you perform sophisticated actions on the site, such as connecting with a database or handling bookings. Unfortunately, the code will only work on Wix and can’t be transferred to another provider.

Wix
SEO capabilities
Summary: Both platforms offer essential search engine optimization features to improve your search engine rankings. However, each platform presents them differently—Wix tends to abstract the SEO settings, which might be frustrating for experienced users. At the same time, beginners might struggle to find the SEO settings they need on Webflow.
Webflow SEO capabilities
Webflow provides an “Audits” section that tells you about any SEO errors on your site.

Webflow
You can find more advanced SEO settings in the site settings section.
Wix SEO capabilities
The Wix SEO features feel slightly more abstracted than Webflow. However, Wix does offer all the essentials for strong SEO, such as redirects, SEO title tags, and meta descriptions.

Wix
Even though both platforms offer the essentials for SEO, ranking highly on search engines often requires a dedicated strategy. To help you rank better, you can find SEO services from experts on Fiverr to help you.
Mobile responsive design
Summary: Webflow offers a more intuitive way to edit mobile and tablet website versions than Wix. However, Wix makes developing a different mobile version easier than the desktop.
Webflow responsive design
Webflow implements responsive design into its visual editor, allowing you to test all screen widths by dragging a sizing bar to whatever size you want.
The elements reposition themselves according to the screen width. Hiding specific elements on a different screen width requires adding styling rules for those elements.

Webflow
Wix responsive design
Wix offers limited responsive design functionality. You can test your website design in two sizes—desktop and mobile. Wix also lets you add mobile-only elements to a page, which makes designing a mobile version easier for inexperienced designers.

Wix
Templates and themes
Summary: Wix has a far more extensive library of free templates for custom websites than Webflow. Unfortunately, choosing another template in the future is impossible to do easily.
Unlike the simple process of changing themes and templates in platforms like WordPress, Squarespace, and Shopify, changing your site’s template on Wix and Webflow is a complicated, error-prone procedure.
Webflow Templates
Webflow provides a handful of free templates and a wide selection of paid ones. The templates have a more modern feel than the Wix templates we saw.

Webflow
More impressive is Webflow’s extensive selection of design libraries, which you can use to create professional-looking custom websites easily.
Webflow offers immense flexibility to create the exact design that suits your business. If you need help designing a perfectly branded site, contact one of the many website design experts on Fiverr to help you.
Wix Templates
Wix provides an extensive library of free templates for your website. The designs felt less modern than the Webflow designs.

Wix
You can also choose layouts with no styling that you can customize yourself.

Wix
Customer support
Summary: Webflow obscures its support page, while Wix provides an easily accessible “Help” menu item to get support. Overall, Wix offers more comprehensive support than Webflow.
Webflow support
Finding Webflow’s contact page was challenging—even by searching on Google. Once we found the contact support page, the message was clear. Webflow expects users to read its tutorials or watch its extensive videos at Webflow University (the company’s primary educational resource) before contacting support.

Webflow
Webflow also offers a community forum where you can post questions.
Wix support
Wix’s help section is far easier to find, and comes up as the first result on Google’s search engine results page when you search “Wix help support.” Once you get to the page, you can click on “Help” in the menu, and it shows you various options to get support.

Wix
Wix offers 24/7 phone support in English and phone support during business hours in many other languages.

Wix
Ecommerce capability
Summary: Both platforms offer ecommerce functionality. For large ecommerce sites, Webflow’s 15,000 product limit might be a deal-breaker.
Webflow Ecom
Webflow provides more design flexibility than Wix but offers fewer options in its ecommerce plans. Webflow also charges more for its ecommerce plans. We found it hard to find reasons to choose Webflow over Wix if your store’s primary function is ecommerce.

Wix
If you’re getting started with ecommerce and don’t expect it to become a primary business, using Webflow might make sense. If you do suddenly expand and need to move over to a more robust service such as Shopify, you can find web development services on Fiverr to help you.
Wix Ecom
Wix excels in ecommerce, offering extensive features at a much lower cost than Webflow. Wix’s ecommerce pricing plans let you upload up to 50,000 products. It allows you to integrate with external marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay. It provides discounts, automatic cart recovery, and numerous other essential features in any successful ecommerce store.

Wix
AI-powered tools
Summary: Wix has gone all-in with AI. Unfortunately, we found the excessive focus on AI more of a barrier than a time-saver.
Webflow’s philosophy is that AI should augment human work. It offers no AI-driven design capabilities but an impressively able AI-powered learning assistant.
Webflow AI
Webflow’s approach to AI enhances human creativity and helps people work faster. As a result, Webflow has implemented AI features that augment rather than replace human design.

Webflow
We were immensely impressed with Webflow’s AI Learning Assistant, shown in the screenshot below. It’s an AI-powered chat tool that provides design support, including precise video links that take you directly to the part of the video answering your question.

Webflow
Wix AI
Wix shows you AI tools at every opportunity, offering everything from design to copywriting.
If you’re in a hurry, the Wix AI content generator (shown below) is a helpful timesaver.

Wix
Pricing
Summary: Both platforms offer a free plan, which should be enough for testing. Webflow and Wix's pricing are similar in non-ecommerce plans. However, Webflow pricing is far more expensive for ecommerce features.
All pricing plans include web hosting for both platforms.
Webflow Pricing
Webflow's pricing is generally higher than Wix's, especially for e-commerce functionalities. However, for non-e-commerce sites, both platforms offer comparable pricing in their lower-tier plans.

Webflow
Wix Pricing
Wix’s pricing stands out in the ecommerce sector, offering robust functionality starting from its second-lowest tier.

Wix
And the winner is...
...Webflow for non-ecommerce
If you’re not planning a website that focuses on ecommerce, we recommend Webflow without any reservations. Even though Wix’s “done-for-you” approach might feel easier to design, Webflow’s user experience is excellent, and its onboarding makes the system easy to learn.
A quickly generated website can become a massive time-consumer in the future as you try to improve and scale it. Spending a few hours learning about Webflow in the beginning will pay off in the future.
If you’re strapped for time, you can alsofind Webflow development services from Fiverr to help you get your Webflow site up and running.
...Wix for ecommerce
If you’re focusing on ecommerce, Wix wins hands down.
Whereas Webflow is suitable for a website with ecommerce tacked on for additional functionality, its ecommerce limitations will be frustrating for serious sellers.
You can find expert Wix website development services and website builders on Fiverr to help you build your Wix ecommerce site.
